Today I took you along and showed you everything I ate tasted and tried on my trip in Austin Texas!
Growing up in Hawaii and on an island my whole life, I’ve never had a lot of these foods since it’s not on island so when I came to the USA mainland I had to add these on my mainland and Texas food tour food journey list and see what all the hype was about! all the hype was about! I went to my first ever authentic Texas style barbecue experience in Austin Texas at the restaurant and smoke house The Salt Lick BBQ. I wanted to see all the hype and smoky flavor! This is the first time I’ve ever tried this Texas barbecue restaurant. I took you along on what I ordered, tasted or tried / taste tested and reviewed. I got the pork rib combo which came with pork ribs, turkey, beans, potato salad, and coleslaw. My friend got the brisket and pulled pork plate. We also got a side of sausage. I also got a peach cobbler a la mode (with vanilla ice cream) for dessert and some iced sweet tea. Next, I had some Mexican Cola-Cola coke or mexicoke. For breakfast, I ate at the restaurant and cafe Vivel Crepe and Coffee where I had a California avocado toast(avocado, cherry tomatoes, poached egg, arugula, toast, smoked salmon) and a soy matcha latte. I also had some raspberry gelato. Next for dinner, I went to Bob’s Steak and Chop House in downtown Austin. I started off with some bread and butter and the chophouse salad (greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, bacon, heart of palm). Then, for the main course I got a prime filet mignon with Bob’s signature glazed carrot and skillet fried potatoes topped with sautéed onions and peppercorn gravy. For sides I also got creamed corn, mac and cheese or macaroni and cheese, and roasted brussels sprouts with bacon. For dessert, I had the brownie sundae(peanut butter and chocolate brownie with triple chocolate and PB cup ice cream topped with pecan chocolate butter nut sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry. Next I picked, cracked open, and ate some fresh pecans. Next I had some cupcakes from Sprinkles Austin. I got the vegan red velvet cupcake, strawberry cake with strawberry frosting, vanilla cake (vanilla frosting and sprinkles), and the gluten free lemon blueberry cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Next I went to Panera Bread for the first time and got the viral Panera Green Goddess Cobb Salad with chicken. It has chicken, arugula, romaine lettuce, baby kale, red leaf blend, grape tomatoes, pickled red onions, Green Goddess dressing, avocado, bacon, and hard boiled egg. I also got the French onion soup in a sour dough bread bowl! Next I went to In N Out burger for the first time and got the cheese burger with no onions (toasted buns, sliced American cheese, beef patty, lettuce, In N Out signature recipe spread, and tomatoes) and the animal style fries (house made and cut fresh french fries, melted cheese, secret spread sauce, and grilled onions) and my friend got the hamburger and original fresh hand cut potato french fries. I also got a strawberry milkshake for dessert. I also tried Chipotle for the first time and got the bowl with a tortilla wrap on the side. In my burrito bowl I got chicken, black beans, pinto beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili corn salsa, tomatillo green chili salsa, tomatillo red chili salsa, sour cream, cheese, avocado or guacamole(extra charge for guacamole), and romaine lettuce. I also got a side of chips and guacamole. Then finally at the airport, I got some airport food two mini cream cheese smoked salmon bagels with lemon and arugula.
It was a fun and new experience for me and I’m glad I got to share it with you! I enjoyed visiting Austin TX for the first time. Where should I travel and eat next?
