Guacamole is a dip made of avocados, lime, and other fresh ingredients. Serve it with tortilla chips or bread toast or tacos.
Avocados are a source of vitamins C, E, K, and B6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids. Avocados contain high levels of healthy, beneficial fats, which can help a person feel fuller between meals.
Avocados give you a good dose of vitamin E, which may help protect against Alzheimer’s disease and slow decline in your memory and thinking .
INGREDIENTS
1 ripe avocado
Salt to taste
2 tsp lemon juice
3 or 4 tbsp finely chopped onion
1 green chilli finely chopped
1 garlic clove finely minced
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
3 or 4 tbsp finely chopped deseeded tomato
Tortilla chips or bread toast to serveMETHOD
For the best guacamole, use ripe avocados.
Press and check . If unripe keep the avocados at room temperature until they are ready.
Cut the avocados in half. Remove the pit.
Scoop out the flesh with a spoon and chop it roughly.
Mash the avocado with a fork and make it as chunky or smooth as you’d like. It takes time to mash it.
(Don’t overdo mashing . The guacamole should be a little chunky.)
Now add all the other ingredients one by one and mix well.
Taste and adjust the additional ingredients as needed.
Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate up to one day.
