-Nuchigafu
This is where we had breakfast and is where you should go to at least once. Housed in a former radio station after World War 2, this traditional Okinawan house is beautifully preserved. They have two selections for breakfast both priced at ¥1000 each and comes with a choice of drink.

1 Chome-28-32 Tsuboya, Naha, Okinawa 902-0065

-Cafe Dokadoka
Beautiful cafe with seats overlooking the Onna Bay, which we recommend the Taco Rice and Dokadoka Pizza here. They are both delicious.

243-1 Maeganeku, Onna, Kunigami District, Okinawa 904-0414

-Hirata Tsukemono
This place has been making tsukemono (pickled vegetables) for over 60 years. Try the Shima Rakkyo and which is something you can find only in Okinawa. I like the plain salted ones while Satoshi prefers the kimchi Shima Rakkyo.

2 Chome-7-10 Matsuo, Naha, Okinawa 900-0014

-Ukishima Brewing
Our favorite place for local craft beer in Naha. Super chill place with a great vibe, try their beers with some tasty food. Conveniently located in the back streets of Naha.

3-1-1 Makishi 3F, Naha 900-0013 Okinawa Prefecture

-Dachibin
Enjoy authentic Okinawan cuisine at Dachibin, located just a few minutes walk from Miebashi Station. Housed in a renovated traditional Okinawan building, this was some of the best Okinawan food we had. They also have a huge variety of Awamori, Okinawa’s preferred drink.

2 Chome-18-1 Kumoji, Naha, Okinawa 900-0015

-Blue Seal Parlor Mizuhara
You can find Blue Seal everywhere in Okinawa. It’s no wonder because they have the best ice cream on the island. Shinichi’s favorite: Chinsuko (okinawan cookies) Satoshi’s favorite (mango).

3 Chome-1 Makishi, Naha, Okinawa 900-0013

  1. Thanks for a wonderful introductory sampler of the varied tastes of Okinawa.. glad Japan is opening again, time to visit from HK!

  2. Amazing video! I’ve enjoyed every second of it. Thank you for the wonderful recommendations, I want to visit and eat in all of those places too!

  3. A bit letdown since there is no mention of goat dishes here, but I still like this video. Definitely have places I'm interested in. Thanks for the coverage!

  4. Shaka Brudduahs! Mahalo! We went to Nuhigafu today for lunch and it was a great experience with remarkable food. I had the Sea Grape Okinawa Soba Lunch Set, outstanding. So glad we found your videos before our trip they really helped. We found the Blue Seal Ice Cream shop you went to and the shopping street. Tomorrow we will go to the Public Market. Maybe in the future we're going to fly right over Hawaii and head for Okinawa. Thank you. 🙂 PS, Our Gringo palettes couldn't handle the Bitter Melon…

  5. Enjoyed the video! I was born in Naha in 1960 but left a few months later. I have been planning a trip their and this makes me want to more, thanks.

  6. We chanced upon your videos while we were researching for food placed before our trip. Nuchigafu is really nice and traditional while cafe dokadoka has fantastic view with great pizzas. Thank u for the great recommendations!
