【ホテル宿泊記】シンガポールの名門 ラッフルズホテルに滞在し 食事やアフタヌーンティー、シンガポールスリング、SPAまで丸ごと堪能する大人の休日

I’m traveling with my son, who is on summer vacation. We’re in Singapore on our way back from the Southern Hemisphere. We’re heading from Orchard toward the Bay Area, home to the Merlion and Marina Bay Sands. A beautiful, imposing, imposing white building comes into view. This hotel, which also houses a shopping arcade, is where we’ll be staying. We ‘ll only be staying overnight, but plan to enjoy the bar, dinner, afternoon tea, and spa. There it is. Raffles Singapore, Singapore’s most prestigious hotel , stands at the center of a wide approach, a striking white colonial building. A doorman dressed in traditional Sikh uniform greets us. Our luggage is efficiently unloaded and carried directly to our room. We walk past the red carpet and into the hotel. Inside, we’re amazed. The three-story atrium is bathed in light streaming from the ceiling. It’s so beautiful! We decide to explore the building later, but first we check in. Once again, we booked through Hotelux, an essential tool for booking hotels abroad. Recently, the hotel has partnered with JAL and Diners Club, garnering increasing attention. Here are the benefits of staying at Raffles Singapore. Membership offers various benefits and enhances your stay, so be sure to check it out. This code allows you to register for a discount, so please take advantage of it. It’s still daytime, but I’ve received an early check-in benefit from Hotelux, and since my return flight is at night, I’ll check out in the evening. I also have a $100 USD credit, so I plan to use it for dining and spa treatments during my stay. Before being shown to my room, I took a quick detour to the garden. It felt like a different time flowed here, like a different world. I took the elevator to my room. The hotel has three floors, 115 suites, and seven restaurants and bars. Each room is spacious and beautifully decorated with elegant interiors. The guest rooms appear to be arranged around the garden. This room appears to be located across the garden from the main building where the lobby is located. A butler arrived shortly. At Raffles, every room is provided with a 24-hour butler. They brought me my room key and welcome chocolates. I was able to choose my favorite treat. What wonderful hospitality. Everything looked delicious, and I was intrigued. They then showed me around my room and explained that I could call them at any time using the tablet. I began the room tour. My room key was made of beautiful leather. Welcome. It’s lovely. I really like the colonial atmosphere. This time, I was staying in the 70-square-meter “Palm Court Suite.” I could choose between a king or double bed. All rooms are suites, with the living area and bedroom in separate spaces. The ceilings are said to be 4 meters high. It felt spacious and spacious. In addition to chocolates, there were many other welcome amenities. A letter and fruit. I was happy. There was also a signature tea inspired by the hotel’s signature cocktail, the Singapore Sling. The Palm Court could be seen through the lattice window. Next to the sofa in the parlor, there was this: a note in a leather box with the logo. The pen is very stylish. The tablet the butler showed me earlier is available in Japanese. It’s loaded with more than just butler-related menus. It can also be used to adjust the lighting and as a TV remote. Sitting on the sofa, there’s a TV directly in front of me, along with a table set. Postcards and original chocolates were also prepared on the table. There are windows high up on the wall, and a minibar near the door. A remnant of colonial architecture. The beautiful partition window design. Toward the bedroom. A four-poster bed, a remnant of colonial architecture. A fan in the high ceiling. Storage space across from the bed, with a built-in TV in the center. There’s a chair by the partition window. There’s an outlet and a USB port at the foot of the chair. This is what the bed looks like from the front. You can request your preferred pillow. The space between the beds is like this, and there’s a tablet here, too. The rooms have been renovated, and the latest technology is convenient and appreciated. Opening the drawer, I found an outlet and a USB port. Both the TV here and the one in the parlor are 55-inch smart TVs. Opening the closet next to the TV, I first found high-quality hangers. Then, laundry and shoe-shining service. The embroidered bag was adorable. On my feet were shoe trees and slippers. A stylish paper bag. The slippers were the most beautiful I’d ever seen. Navy quilting with a paisley pattern. Attention to detail was evident. Next to the bed was a valet stand. Here, a desk and dresser were also present. Lifting the cutout revealed a mirror. A hair dryer was stored inside, and the mirror was illuminated. I continued to the bathroom at the back. The bathtub had a beautiful shape. The Branacan-style tiles on the floor were adorable, and the marble throughout was very luxurious. A long mirror matched the high ceiling. Two separate sinks. Lightweight robes, custom made for the hotel, were hanging there. The sink area was spacious and clean. The room was decorated in monochrome, with silver accents. The accessories were also cute. Belgian brand “Omno” bath amenities were available. They had an elegant Solace scent, and I found some mouthwash . This was my first time seeing towels in such large sizes. The towels were fluffy and voluminous. The drawer was packed with amenities . They were packaged with the hotel’s logo, and the inside looked like this. The body lotion and moth orchids were wonderful. Inside were cotton balls and nail files. The faucet design was cute. There was a bathtub pillow. Turning around, I saw the bathtub and the shower room and toilet behind it. The bathtub had a creamy, smooth texture. There was a telephone shower. There was a bathtub tray and bath salts provided. The shower room was spacious and had a bench. There was a hand shower. There was a rain shower on the ceiling. The shampoos were the same “Omno” brand as in the bathroom. The toilet looked like this. There was a window, letting in plenty of light, which was nice. Luxurious marble and beautiful tiles. The bathroom had a stylish monotone silver finish. Finally, I took a look at the minibar. It was designed like a classic trunk and was very beautiful. It was upholstered in subdued leather. Opening the drawer, I found snacks. They also had original mixed nuts and coasters. The water was bottled, and here was a coffee maker and electric kettle. Opening this, the glasses were neatly stored. They could be pulled out for easy use. In the large drawer were Nespresso capsules, including Alain Milliat honey and C&S espresso. There were also many original tea bags. There was also Japanese green tea. The bottom drawer was a large refrigerator. Apparently, all of the drinks were free to help. At the very bottom was a box labeled “Writers Bar,” one of the hotel’s bars. Inside was a cocktail kit. It’s wonderful to be able to make cocktails in your room. There was also an in-room dining menu. It was viewable on a tablet, and there were many delicious-looking options. What do you think? I’d like to relax here for a night. I’ll have lunch. The building is pure white throughout, creating a beautiful contrast with the greenery. The restaurant is located in the arcade, open to non-guests. We were escorted to the signature Chinese restaurant on the third floor. There were also other restaurants, bars, boutiques, and a spa. We arrived on the third floor. The beautiful, thoroughly designed interior was a sight to behold. We were greeted by a warm welcome. “Yi by Jereme Leung” ( 藝 yi means art in Chinese), and we were immediately greeted by a pure white paper flower installation. This flagship restaurant, run by Shanghai-born celebrity chef Jereme Leung, is based on the concept of a culinary journey that awakens not only the palate but also the senses. We met up with a friend from Singapore for lunch. While we waited, the staff patiently explained the menu to us. The photos interspersed throughout the menu were as beautiful and delicious as art, building our anticipation. They also offer dim sum and lunch course menus. This special menu features an abundance of wild mushrooms from Yunnan Province. Apparently, they personally foraged these rare mushrooms in Yunnan, China, and showed us some of the rare mushrooms. I wonder what the texture and flavor are like? I’d like to try them. My friend joined us, and we toasted with a Billecart-Salmon Le Reserve, a Raffles-exclusive label. First, a refreshing homemade pickle was served, like an amuse-bouche to whet our appetite. It was mushrooms tossed in passion fruit sauce. A modern dish combining premium mushrooms from Yunnan Province with tropical fruits. A platter of black pork and Iberian pork roast. This dish features the classic dim sum dish, “shrimp cheung fun,” enhanced with yellow chives. The shrimp are large and chewy, a delight. This is a xiaolongbao version of Singapore’s famous “chili crab.” The rich crab and spicy broth emerge from the skin. Sesame-flavored purple sweet potato dumplings. Artistically designed, their gentle sweetness is comforting. A signature dish was served: a single cucumber cut 100 times into a spiral shape. It was impressive, resembling a dragon. It was a shame to waste it, but I boldly cut it. The dish is then tossed with whelks and a soy vinaigrette. It’s a delightfully refreshing and delicious dish with a delightful texture. Next up is the hot and sour soup. It’s beautifully presented and incredibly delicious, featuring pigeon eggs, shrimp dumplings, and tofu. Something else started happening next to us. One of their signature dishes is the golden roast duck. The roasted duck skin and meat are beautifully sliced. The skin is topped with cucumber, green onion, fermented soy sauce, and the signature “Yunnan rose flower sauce.” The lustrous, fragrant skin is draped in gold leaf. Inside the steamer are pancakes, which are rolled for you. The staff rolls them for you. Unlike Peking duck, which is served with sweet bean sauce, the meat is served with a special rose sauce. A gorgeous and luxurious dish. Next, we had silver cod teriyaki-style with honey. The sweet and savory flavors combined to create a tender, melt-in-your-mouth dish. The final dish was stir-fried seafood noodles wrapped in egg batter. The large seafood and fragrant noodles were delicious. A refreshing dessert was served: kumquat and sour plum sorbet, peach resin (peach glue) and lemongrass jelly. We also enjoyed a lovely dessert soup with mango petals. Thank you for the meal. Now that our hearts and stomachs were satisfied, we decided to explore the hotel. The building is beautiful, immaculately maintained everywhere. The plants and lawns are perfectly manicured, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Founded in 1887, this legendary hotel was known as the Lady of the Orient and beloved by celebrities from around the world. Apparently , this was once a swimming pool. It’s fun to imagine Singapore in the past. I came here to rediscover the sight I saw when I first stepped inside the hotel. The entrance and lobby. A three-story atrium. The large chandelier is apparently lowered electrically for maintenance. Here’s what the hotel looks like. Below the stairs is the check-in area. This area, known as “The Grand Lobby,” is bustling with people enjoying afternoon tea. Beyond “The Grand Lobby” is the North Indian restaurant, “Tiffin Room,” which also serves breakfast. I walked outside. It’s beautiful no matter how many times I look at it. It’s striking to see so many tourists stopping to take photos. Surrounded by skyscrapers, this place feels like it’s in another world. The current main building was completed in 1899. It’s designated as a national historic landmark, a representative example of colonial architecture. Raffles began in 1887 with a 10-room seaside bungalow and has become synonymous with Singapore. The Bay Area and Merlion Park are about a 10-minute walk away. Large malls are also nearby. From here, I decided to learn more about Raffles’ history with a professional guide. There’s a “historian” who will guide me around the building. He spoke in a lively manner about Singapore’s history and the history of Raffles, using historical images and other materials. He introduced me to the various items in the hotel, which was truly enjoyable. Guests with reservations can also receive a tour. The hotel introduced a new logo in 2019, based on the “Traveller’s Palm,” a plant that grows in front of the hotel. I was guided to the Hall Fame area, which is filled with photos of celebrities who have stayed there in the past, including famous authors like Rudyard Kipling, Queen Elizabeth II, Jackie Chan, and Michael Jackson. We then moved to the upper floor, where the fitness center is located. While not large, it offers a wide variety of machines. Further inside, there’s an outdoor pool. It has a resort-like atmosphere and is a wonderful place to relax. The view from the third floor overlooking the entrance lobby is spectacular. It’s beautiful. The staircase at the back of the lobby leads to the third floor. Above the atrium, a spacious area for guests to relax is located. We were told we would be shown a special suite, so we headed to the very back of the third floor. It was named after Thomas Stamford Raffles, who laid the foundation for Singapore’s modernization and gave Raffles Hotel its name. It was the ultimate presidential suite, a spacious 190 square meters. It’s said to be the most luxurious hotel suite in Singapore, and everything about it was exquisite. The bathroom was lavishly appointed with deep green natural stone. There were two bedrooms and two bathrooms. And there was a spacious private balcony overlooking the Palm Court. It was a real treat for the eyes. As evening approached, we decided to head to the iconic Raffles location. We walked through the arcade area. Below us was a sign for the dining and bar “Raffles Countyard.” We headed to the “LONG BAR” to enjoy their signature Singapore Sling. This is it. There was a photo spot, and it seemed like many people, even non-guests, came here. It was very lively. It seemed like everyone was there for the Singapore Sling. It seems to be fully booked early every day, so it’s best to make a reservation early. The interior is larger than I expected, with an upper floor. The classic, tropical decor retains a strong colonial atmosphere. Once again, this is the birthplace of the world-famous cocktail, the Singapore Sling. On the table are peanuts, another specialty of the bar. The tradition of throwing the shells on the floor after eating remains. This is a unique sight in Singapore, known as the cleanest city in the world. I take a look at the menu. Of course, the Singapore Sling is listed first. It’s beautifully illustrated. Apparently, more than 1,000 slings are consumed there every day. While there are other delicious cocktails, almost all customers order the Singapore Sling. I was surprised to hear that I could help make a Singapore Sling, so I went to the counter. This shaker machine can apparently make 18 Singapore Slings at a time. I turned the handle and tried shaking it. I was surprised at how heavy it was. I gave up quickly and let a professional take over. This speed seems to be the right answer. The color is beautiful. I can’t wait to drink it. In the past, it was considered inappropriate for women to openly drink alcohol, so a Chinese bartender working here created a pink cocktail that resembled juice in 1915. We received a commemorative card. This is what the Singapore Sling looks like. Our Singapore Sling is complete. The original glass is adorable. They use a specially crafted original gin, so it’s said to taste unique . The sweet and sour tropical fruit and the refreshing gin are delicious. We tossed the peanut shells aside as we enjoyed it. Leaving LONG BAR, we headed for dinner, located near the bar. We were looking forward to enjoying avant-garde wood-fire dining at “Butcher’s Block.” A display of aged meats was displayed at the entrance . We were also shown around the impressive truffles and the open kitchen. Delicious vegetables, wood-fired and smoked meats, and a spacious interior with a gleaming cellar that caught our eye. They are committed to “whole animal” cuisine, using every last bit of food from an entire animal, and “zero waste,” minimizing waste to the utmost. The course menu is as shown here. It’s very unique, incorporating elements from the chef’s native Hawaii and Japan. The à la carte menu is full of unexpected ingredient combinations, making it a delight. A wine list curated by Raffles Singapore’s wine team was also introduced. Since I’m not an expert, I explained my preferences and asked for a recommendation. We started with a glass of Ruinart champagne. This time, we ordered a course meal and began with amuse-bouche. The dishes were beautiful and mysterious, with delightful textures. Bigeye tuna poke tart. Hawaiian-style Wagyu beef jerky and fried rice. Smoked tuna tacos served in a nori tortilla. Sandwiched carrots and buckwheat tart. The bread, served with kelp butter, was sweet, fluffy, and incredibly delicious. Next came a dish smoked with dried kaffir lime leaves. The refreshing aroma of citrus spread throughout the room. A refreshing dish of kelp-marinated, medium-fatty bigeye tuna served with tomato sorbet and aguachile, a Mexican spicy sauce. Next was a Hawaiian noodle dish, “saimin,” reimagined with a Japanese snack. It was both interesting and delicious, and I was surprised. Spam with a cherry glaze. Freshwater lobster kamaboko (fish cake) was served with chicken soup. Next came 21-day-aged duck breast, smoked with South Indian spice leaves for a unique aroma. Inspired by the Hawaiian specialty “hulihuli chicken,” it was accompanied by duck sausage and duck skin tuile, allowing us to fully enjoy the duck. The red wine we selected arrived. It was well-balanced and spicy, and I loved it. Next was a Japanese tilefish, presented in two different ways. The belly was seared as sushi and the back was grilled with pine cones. My next drink was a request. The Chablis was fresh and distinctive. Dry-aged Wagyu beef arrived. Its color was beautiful. It was accompanied by a refreshingly tart herb sauce from Argentina. It was paired with corn and a refreshing green pea puree. It was a series of new ingredients and new flavors, and before I knew it, it was dessert. I washed my palate with ginger sorbet. I was recommended a port wine, so I had it. It was a special wine aged in barrels for nearly 50 years, and its complex aroma and mellow sweetness were a delight. The final dessert was a flower garden-like dish, interspersed with various elements. The small pastries were also unique, with delicate textures and flavors—perfect for a perfect dinner. It was a wonderful dinner. I’m full. Good night. Good morning. A pleasant morning awaits at Raffles. I get ready and head to breakfast. There’s a hallway, but I like to walk through the Palm Court toward the lobby. The chandelier is shining beautifully today. I ask for my room number and am shown to the “Tiffin Room” next to the lobby. It’s lovely. A display of Indian “tiffin” lunch boxes is on display. I’m shown to my seat and order coffee. They offer both a custom-made menu and a buffet, and the menu is explained to me carefully. These are the drinks. They also offer smoothies and freshly squeezed juices. There’s a wide selection of custom-made items. They also have a pastry menu, various egg dishes, and a wellness menu. They also have a section on Asian cuisine. They have nasi goreng, laksa, dim sum, Chinese congee, curry, noodles, and kaya toast. The buffet corner in the back is gorgeous and lovely. They offer baked goods, Danishes, and tarts. They also have typical Singaporean Buranakan sweets. The displays are stylish, and everything looks delicious. They have basic breads and marinades, cereals, seeds, dried fruit, and fruit. They also have cold cuts like ham and salami. Fig and mango flavored vinegars. There’s an area where you can enjoy smoked salmon and ham with crackers and cheese. The refrigerator also has fresh coconuts and acai bowls. There’s outdoor seating. This popular seating area features a pleasant breeze and an elegant fountain. The custom-order menu arrived, so we decided to dine. This was the legendary Raffles pancake. It was sweet and delicious. Kaya toast is a Singapore breakfast staple. My son had never tried kaya toast, so we ordered this. At Raffles, the eggs were soft-boiled. The raw vegetables were fresh, and the salmon and ham were high-quality. The atmosphere was pleasant and the breakfast was satisfying. Our butler guided us to a boutique. Located in a corner of the arcade, “RAFFLES BOUTIQUE” apparently offers a wide variety of popular souvenirs, home décor, and gourmet items. I was surprised by how much larger the store was. The butler guided us around, which was a great help. The products were lined deep inside. The interior was stylish. The spacious shopping area was spacious. When I asked what the most popular item was, I was told it was the original kaya jam. They also had peanut butter, which looked delicious. I visited LONG BAR last night for the peanuts. Their pineapple tart and kaya tart are also popular. Here’s a Singapore Sling in a tin. It’s nice to be able to take them home and enjoy them. There are so many wonderful items, so I’d like to share some of them. Enamel mugs, ceramic mugs, cookies and biscuits, original gourmet kits, original teas, and tropical interior items. I bought a variety of items that I liked. The magnets were exquisite and came in boxes. Baby and kids’ items. There was also a wide selection of apparel, scented items, and stationery. The playing cards and posters were also very stylish. Everything was lovely, and I bought a lot. Non-guests are welcome to drop in, and there’s also an online shop. After shopping, I wanted to relax at the spa. Stepping inside “RAFFLES SPA,” located just next to the boutique , I found myself in a calm and elegant space. Apparently, they offer rituals inspired by Asian wellness philosophy and soothing body and facial treatments. After being shown around, I filled out a consultation form. I’m struggling to decide whether to get a full-body massage or a soothing one. Since my flight is tonight, I’ll go for the soothing one. I walked through a beautiful corridor of light to the treatment room. It wasn’t obvious from the outside, but it’s very spacious. I was given a couple’s room. The bathroom was also very spacious. Amenities were carefully prepared. Everything was perfect. I chose an oil with my favorite scent and effects from “ISUN,” an organic brand from Colorado, and began my treatment. My mind and body were refreshed, and it was heaven. I relaxed for a while in the relaxation room. After tea and snacks, I was in heaven. Finally, I was shown around the hydrotherapy facilities, including the vitality pool and herbal sauna. I walked briskly into the lobby area. It was time for the long-awaited afternoon tea. Here’s the menu. For tea, we enjoyed “JING” tea leaves carefully selected by a tea sommelier. They all looked delicious, so it was hard to choose. They also had coffee, juice, and champagne. You could sample the aromas and choose your tea. A tea cart arrived at our table. First, we were given a welcome drink: Casablanca mint tea. Then, our tea orders were brewed right in front of us. The brewing was skillful and beautiful, making the wait even more enjoyable. We ordered Earl Grey and Jasmine and Lily Butterfly Tea. We also ordered a glass of champagne: Picard Salmon, with a Raffles exclusive label. The menu was brought out one after the other. Sandwiches, a colorful menu on a classic silver stand. It was beautiful. It was elegant, elegant, and classic, but the sweets were modern and very good. Let’s eat. The Butterfly Tea opened, fragrant and delicious. Freshly baked homemade scones were served. We chose our favorites. Raisin and feta cheese scones. Chicken and Parmesan sandwiches and egg mayonnaise sandwiches. Salmon eclairs. And crab salad brioche. Japanese strawberry tart with lemon bavarois inside. Apple and apricot tart. Rich dark chocolate with 80% cacao. Pistachio praline, pineapple and coconut rice pudding. Clotted cream and strawberry and rose pedal jam. Both the savory and sweet dishes were lavishly made with high-quality ingredients and were exquisite. The flavors were well-balanced, not too sweet, and very delicious. There was live harp music. I was so happy to have spent such an elegant afternoon. Before I knew it, it was time to leave. Raffles, illuminated at night. It was a majestic sight, mesmerizing. This time, I was impressed not only by the beauty and history of the building, but also by the meticulous and wonderful hospitality, which made me a fan. I was deeply touched by the way they treated me with words and actions that exceeded my expectations, without making me feel uneasy for even a moment. I was able to take home the leather room key as a souvenir. After vacating my room and leaving my luggage, they picked it up and then I headed to the airport. The cleaning staff, restaurant staff, doorman, and butler—everyone was perfect, and it was clear they truly valued their guests. I leave, hoping to stay longer next time. Raffles Singapore. It was amazing. I’m looking forward to the Raffles opening in Tokyo soon. Thanks to the many perks I received through my Hotelux reservation, I was able to enjoy dinner and the spa. Becoming a member offers a variety of benefits that will enhance your stay, so be sure to check it out. As I headed to Changi International Airport, I reflected on this trip. I hope to continue traveling with my husband, son, and precious friends. Thank you for reading until the end. Where should I go next? That’s all from Lily.
