I tried living on a tiny remote Scottish island for 7 days. Scotland has many islands, especially on its western coastline. Trying Scottish island living has been something which has been on my bucket list for years so I decided to finally make it happen!

In my experience, I have a farm near a cow farm, cows are mostly curious about people. They seem bored and approach anyone they encounter but a lot of them are shy and will only get so close and then just stand there and look at you. I've never had one come at me. But having a stick sounds like a good idea in any case.
I could stay alone out there for weeks… Maybe months. It looks so nice.
The horse is a guard for the cows. Not that those cows need protection but the horse will chase off dogs or other wildlife.

Thats when I often go – you have so much more light, and if the sun is out it will help with your wild swimming (which otherwise is like stepping into a cold bath).

I could definitely spend a week on that lovely island, in that cosy cottage. The cow that comes for you whilst out walking would probably terrify me! The food you enjoyed in the tea room and at the pizza night looked delicious. I get so inspired watching you with your adventurous spirit – I make sure to keep having my own gentle adventures in my own country (Australia). You're such a lovely host, and it is such a pleasure to be shown Scotland through your eyes.

In 2016 stayed on Tanera Mor, there was a population of 9, you might want to see if you can do a video about it.
Not a cow, but a young bull, this is shown clearly in the footage. Explains the behavior.

Hello Ruth, I am from a wee isle NW of the Isle of Harris between St Kilda and the Flannan isles. Growing up I just thought isle life was normal.
