How To Korean Corn Dogs

Sometimes trends just don’t live up to the hype. Korean 🌽 corn 🐕 dogs are an exception. Make them like this and I promise you will be amazed. You’re gonna need some thick sausages or jumbo hot dogs 🌭 Cut them 3 inches long. You’re also gonna need some cheese 🧀 The brand I’m using in the video is fire and perfect for the job in my opinion. Cut rectangular planks that are also 3 inches long and yes I do prefer to use a ruler for accurate results! Grab some jumbo skewers from the baking aisle in your grocery store then skewer the sausage first then your 🧀 . Set those aside while you make your batter which is really easy. Simply combine 1 ½ cups all purpose flour, 2 tbsp granulated sugar, ½ tsp coarse salt, 2 tsp baking powder and ¼ tsp instant yeast in a medium bowl until well combined (I like to use a whisk) then mix in ¾ cups whole milk and 2 large eggs until it’s mostly smooth. Pour that batter into a shallow baking tray (you can use a tall glass as well but I’ve found this works much better) then in a separate shallow tray add a 2 cups of plain Panko bread crumbs. Take your sausage/cheese 🧀 skewers and dip them in the batter first making sure every square inch is covered with batter. Once it is let the excess batter drip off for 20-30 seconds then add that to your Panko crumbs. Gently coat with Panko until you have a relatively even layer then set aside on a parchment lined baking tray. Store them in the fridge while you’re not frying. Speaking of frying, preheat some high smoke point oil to 360°F over medium high heat then drop in your corn 🌽 dogs 🐕 . These only take 3-4 minutes to fully cook. When they’re perfectly golden brown and you can see cheese starting to ooze out they’re probably perfectly cooked. Remove them onto some paper towels to remove any excess oil for 1-2 minutes then immediately top with your favorite toppings! I used a homemade garlic lime aioli that was insane 😩 but traditionally things like sugar, mustard and ketchup are used! Then finally, I added a ton of good quality everything bagel seasoning!
