13 DAYS in BULGARIA! š§š¬ (this country surprised us!)
Bulgaria is the land of surprises. A capital full of contradictions. Unforgettable food, luxurious resorts, and very unique traditions. And in this video, we share our 13 days of adventuring across this beautiful Eastern European country. We begin in the one, the only, Sofia. A couple first impressions of Sofia. It is very walkable, and it’s also. There’s a little bit of graffiti, like, not a little, a lot of graffiti on all the buildings, but there’s, like, no trash. And it seems like graffiti might be sort of like an artistic thing. I’m actually going to amend that the more streets I see. It seems like while a few of the things we’ve seen have been artistic, most of them it’s just like, tagging. I definitely like the vibes of, Sophia so far. It’s just such a great day. There’s trees everywhere and there’s so many people out, at least in the area of our Airbnb, which is always a good thing. Makes you feel safe. Safe and, like, happy. Totally. These buildings are absolutely gorgeous. Like, I love the color in that. I love, like, the framing and the little intricate sculptures. I love European, beautiful, casual buildings. Classic. So we’re on our way to our first stop. And we actually walked across this little art and artisan fair, which is right in the Garden of Bulgarian Militiamen. And it’s super cool. There’s literally local artists painting things, and there’s also different, like, souvenirs and stuff as well. It’s also just like a Thursday afternoon, so. Yeah. That’s fun that they have things like this casually that you can just stumble upon any day of the week. One thing we learned about Sofia is how diverse it is within its religions and cultures and architecture. It has Roman roots, Byzantine roots, Ottoman Empire roots, such a wide variety of religious buildings and things like that. And we’re actually starting out behind me with one of the crown jewels of Sophia, this Eastern Orthodox Church, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. That’s what it’s called. Absolutely gorgeous inside. Yeah, we’ve seen very simple churches and more grand churches and different religious establishments. But honestly, that was so grand. Yeah. Ornate, gold. I loved it. And the history behind this place is super interesting. It was actually constructed in honor of the Russians who died during the Russo Turkish War that eventually led to Bulgarians, or Bulgaria’s independence over the Ottoman Empire. Beautiful on the outside, too. I mean, just check that out. Gorgeous domes. Wow. Right next to the cathedral is the St. Sophia Church. So another church. But what’s so interesting about this establishment is that it started out as a church and then it became a mosque during the Ottoman Empire. And they actually added in minarets, which eventually got taken down. I think they were destroyed. And then it turned back into a church. So that’s just like a huge showcase of the religious diversity here in Sofia. So despite Bulgaria being in both the EU and the Schengen area, it actually does not use the euro. And it seems like they, a lot of places just take cash. ATM right here. Small bills. Heck yeah. Veggie burrito. Quickly while we’re waiting for our burritos. I love the Bulgarian lev. Lev, is the currency and lev actually means lion. So it’s like Bulgarian lions. Oh, this costs five lions instead of dollars. I love that. That’s super cool. All of it yours. Thank you. Thank you. Bye. Wow, these are big burritos. And there was one lady in there just making them fresh. Don’t worry, we’re gonna get a lot of Bulgarian food. But sometimes you just, you just gotta send it. In Bulgarian cheers is nazdrave, which means to your health. Nazdrave. Nazdrave. That is delicious. I love Europe. They were literally constructing the district court building in 1957. And then they found artifacts from 2,000 years ago from the Thracians. And it has like Greek writing on it and stuff. So cool that they decided to preserve this. I think it just goes to show how Europe, like, over time, they just build on top of each other. You know That street, that is ancient Serdica. So that used to be that street. Okay, wait, that’s really cool. Right? Yeah. It’s crazy how much they found. Yeah. That’s still. I mean, it’s not fully preserved, but it’s still really cool. It’s still here. Yeah, it’s still here. Makes you wonder, like, how much there probably is hidden underneath the rest of the city. Yeah. I think this street might just have the most diverse ideas like, represented I’ve ever seen. You have a mosque right here, a communist era building right there that exemplifies like the Stalin, boxy, function over form right there. There is a church at the end of that street, capitalist McDonald’s right there, and a synagogue right over there. So that’s like. There’s so many different ideas jam packed together. That’s crazy. Behind me is the Banya Bashi mosque. And it’s super interesting because 10 to 12% of Bulgaria’s population is actually Muslim. Very good. The synagogue is beautiful. It was actually built in 1909. And one thing that I think is so cool about it is that even through World War II and the Nazi’s reign, with the anti Semitic laws and things, this synagogue stood through it and still is intact today. This is the first synagogue we’ve ever been to on our travels. And it is easily as beautiful as the mosque and cathedral here. But it’s not every day that you get to go to both a mosque, a cathedral and a synagogue. I also love how there was the Star of David everywhere throughout the synagogue, of course. But it’s so cool how each sort of monotheistic, huge global faith, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism each have their symbol. The cross, the crescent moon and the star. And they’re not quite cable cars, but like the old yellow trams that go across the city are very fun looking. I don’t know if we’ll get to ride one, but it’s cool seeing them, like, weave throughout the city streets. There’s so many people here in Sofia. And the streets are so packed. They literally have, like, subway walkways. You have to go underground to get across the street, which we were confused about for quite a while. Yeah. Check out Vitosha Boulevard. It’s kind of the main thoroughfare here in Sofia. And it’s a vibe. There’s just like a huge walkway, bunch of restaurants and shops lining it. Boulevard has awesome vibes. There’s trees, there’s little cafes, and a lot of people just strolling about. Seems like a really popular, like, walk. Thank you so much. So cinnamon rolls are not traditionally common here in Bulgaria, but it is kind of, like, trendy and more modern to get in the cities like Sofia. So I really wanted to get a cinnamon roll and ChatGPT told me to get one, so I’m getting one. Yeah. It’s called Cinnamoms. So good. Creamy, sweet. Got it everywhere. Oh, still a little bit. 10 out of 10. Really? Do I have it all over my face? Yeah. I’m really glad we got this. I won’t say that’s my favorite cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, because my grandma’s watching, but it is very good. Quick stop at a Bulgarian grocery store. So fancy. Also, one thing I’m noticing is I was expecting really low prices here in Bulgaria, and it’s not as, like, affordable as I thought. Maybe that’s just because we’re in Sofia, the capital, probably. Also one cool thing is you can tell what foods this culture prioritizes. Like meat. Heavy on the meat, huge sausage links here and a lot of yogurt. This is what we bought in the store. Carbonated water. We love carbonated water and it’s so common in Europe. True. Best. So one thing that is affordable is accommodation here in Sofia. This Airbnb, which is huge, has a bathroom, kitchen with a dishwasher, laundry, big living room, huge bed and two balconies. Only costs like $52 or $53 USD a night. And we’re like right in the center of Sofia, so that’s pretty nice. Yeah, everything was walking distance. Which is great. Yeah. We’re actually getting a little bit tired after yesterday’s travel day and today just kind of walking around and eating junk. So we’re just gonna chill here tonight and then keep exploring tomorrow. All right. We’re at the City Gardens and they are truly gorgeous. There’s huge fountains and there’s playgrounds, families everywhere, lots of trees. I really like this stop. It’s different from the other parts of the city because it’s more nature based and apparently it’s really popular with the tourists so. Alrighty, we are going to go like five minutes down the road and try some Bulgarian food, starting with their national dish, Banitsa. Banitsa is a savory pie which has phyllo dough layered and then inside there is cheese. Now, they do have different versions with different ingredients, like spinach in it. However, the most traditional is just cheese. And we also got Ayran and Boza, which are two very traditional drinks that you have a lot of times with banitsa. It’s so warm, you can tell it’s fresh from the oven. Look at this. Oh, oh, glistening, glistening. I haven’t eaten anything today. This is hitting the spot. It’s not crunchy, it’s just kind of like super flaky. Very similar to croissant bread, I would say. And the filling is just so good. It is thick and rich. It seems like it’s like a crepe dough, this filo. It’s like very. It’s almost moist, where it’s not crispy. That is phenomenal, actually. Yeah, it really is. It’s like a feta cheese crispy crepe burrito. I love how much oil there is on it too. We should try the drinks now. We should. Now, you guys, I don’t like the tasty yogurt. I’m not a fan, so I’m very skeptical of that drink because it is basically yogurt, salt, and water. That’s what it’s made from. And it’s Bulgarian. Very common here. I think we had some of this in Turkey. I’m pretty sure it was the exact same drink we had in Turkey because actually this drink came from the Ottoman Empire. And both Turkey and Bulgaria were in the Ottoman Empire. I’m going to try boza Which is a fermented, yes, Alcoholic drink. 0.5% I think you said. 0.5% to 1%. 0.5% to 1%. And it’s like wheat based. It smells like barbecue sauce, guys. Nazdrave. Nazdrave. Like liquid yogurt. The consistency of milk and the taste of yogurt. That’s not as bad as I expected it to be, actually. It’s quite sweet. It does taste like liquid bread. That’s kind of weird. But at the same time, it tastes like barbecue sauce. Wow. Yeah. It tastes like sweet barbecue sauce bread. Here’s what I would do. I would take that, sauce it up, on top of the banitsa and then eat it like you would eat barbecue sauce. I probably wouldn’t drink it on an average day just as is. Look at how oily those banitas are. Just soaked through that paper. So good, guys. So good. I’m gonna get another banitsa. Another one. It’s so big. All right. I’m still hungry. And we got plenty of food to try, so let’s go to our next stop. I love how in Eastern Europe they give you blankets at all the tables. Don’t want you getting cold. When traveling, the last thing you want to worry about is staying connected online. And that is why eSIM io is our new favorite eSIM provider. And they’re also kindly sponsoring this video. Now back to Bulgaria. Dish number two is shopska, which is Bulgaria’s national salad. It is made with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, roasted peppers, sirene, which is the same cheese that was inside of the banitsa and olive. It looks very fresh. It looks very similar to like a Greek salad. Smells delicious. I think we need some vegetables after banitsa. I mean, so fresh right? We’ve all tasted those vegetables before. Sirene. Interestingly, the cheese is like, not nearly as strong as feta. So if you’re looking at it and being like, “oh, I know what that tastes like,” it’s a little bit different. It’s way less strong. There’s also a garnish of parsley and olive oil on there. Super delicious, very filling, very refreshing, you know. So shopska is super popular here. It’s kind of a staple in Bulgaria, especially if you’re a tourist. It’s like one of the first dishes they recommend you trying. So we had to get it for the food tour. Fresh veggies here. The cheese isn’t super strong, which I appreciate. I’m not a big cheese girl, and normally it kind of bothers me that cheese is on there, but in this case, it really adds flavor to it. It’s crunchy, crisp, cold and fresh. I was not expecting to like that as much as I do. Really impressed. This next dish I’m going to try looks straight out of the US it is called Kufteta, which are basically meat patties made with onions, parsley, and spices. And then we have fries on the side and we also have a sideof lutenitsa, which is also very Bulgarian traditional. It is a tomato based sauce basically with cucumbers and pepper in it. It looks really good. It’s kind of more of like a dip, sauce. I assume you dip them in the fries and you also dip the meat in it too. Literally looks like a hamburger. The meat is super tender. The tomato paste is very sweet. Or the lutenitsa. Very sweet. Has a little bit of an acidic flavor because of the tomatoes. Really good, warm, savory, delicious. I really like this dish. 10 out of 10, really. Because it’s like a hamburger or a sausage. French fries are my favorite food, so the fact that they have these on the side already makes it the best dish. A little bit of lutenitsa. It’s like a spicy, earthy ketchup. That’s delicious. Kind of fun, you know. New takes on things that you’re kind of familiar with. We are at a new restaurant, which is pronounced Hadjidraganov’s Cellar. Probably the coolest restaurant name we’ve ever been to. Yeah. And look at this setup. It literally looks super like Bulgarian traditional. It’s got a bunch of cool little decorations and paintings all over the walls and the wood accents. It’s really cool. I’m unsure whether this is like, screams tourist restaurant or whether it’s like really traditional. It’s tourist. Now we’re going to try patatnik, which is a potato based dish made in the skillet with also salt and cheese and savory herbs and onions. And they also have egg in it sometimes. And it looks like there’s a tomato on top. And it’s actually really closely tied to the Rodopi area of Bulgaria specifically, which is in like the southern mountains. Look at that. Oh, mashed potatoes basically. Hot. Really hot. That might be my all time favorite Bulgarian dish I’ve ever had. It’s mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes with cheese and salt and herbs and onions. How can I not like this dish? Potatoes are my favorite food. This is so good. I wasn’t going to have any. With Reyka’s review, I’m going to make a little bit of room. Literally so good. It’s mashed potatoes. Cheesy mashed potatoes, eh? It’s really hot. It’s like caramelized mashed potatoes. That is really good isn’t it? The best dish in Bulgaria, in my opinion. We are back at our Airbnb. It started raining a little bit, so we just got this guy to go. We always like to end off our food tours with a little dessert. Yes and we got Garash cake. That’s how you pronounce it, right? Yeah. Garash. Which is a chocolate cake with nuts on top. Looks so good. Yeah, it does. Ooh, it looks a little bit thicker and fudgier. Kind of like mousse. Oh my word. So rich. Wow. That’s so, so rich. It tastes like fudge. And there’s so many different layers that go through that. It goes like fudge cake, fudge cake, fudge cake, fudge cake. So good. It’s smooth, silky, chocolatey, super chocolatey. Kind of tastes like a little bit of a darker chocolate, not necessarily full dark chocolate, but like a little darker of a chocolate. You can definitely taste the nuts in there. Yeah. So it’s made with egg whites, sugar, finely ground walnuts, which give the structure and the nutty base. Dark chocolate, butter, cream or powdered sugar, and then melted dark chocolate and cream which is poured on top for that glossy finish. When you think of a European resort, what comes to mind? Italy, Greece, maybe Spain? Well, while researching things to do in Bulgaria, we were surprised to find beautiful pictures of Black Sea beaches lined with stylish hotels. So we booked three days at a five star resort to see if Bulgaria’s seaside getaway feel can actually compete. So we’re checking in right now and first impressions right when we walk in the lobby. It is gorgeous. And it’s just gonna be so fun. Barcelo Royal Beach Resort had to go. Welcome to our amazing hotel room. So we are staying in a double deluxe room with a pool view. There’s actually robes and slippers. Super fancy. Reminder, we are in a five star resort, which is crazy to think that we’re in one in Bulgaria. Who knew that they had, like literal beach resorts? It’s crazy. Then to my left you have a huge bathroom with a shower and a tub, body wash, shampoo, all the things. We’re going to be so clean. We’re passing by a great mirror, by the way. Because we have the deluxe double. It’s not only a bedroom, but it’s also a living room because we have a couch and a coffee table. It also came with two huge things of fruit and complimentary champagne. We came in super late yesterday, so it was such a nice surprise to see that. Wow. A little bit of champagne welcoming. Absolutely incredible. Now we have a big bed, desk, tv, complimentary coffee and tea, and a little keurig or water heater, I guess. And then the best part, the view. We do have our own balcony, which is amazing. It’s also really big. You have plenty of space for two people. It’s a dream that we’re here and this room would have been the best vacation in and of itself. But we also have included food and drink with these wristbands. So we’re going to go get breakfast next. Beautiful. Thank you. All right, breakfast time. And we’re at the chef’s buffet. There are so many options. They have Bulgarian options and regular traditional breakfast, international breakfast, cold cuts, all the things. Like the best buffet you can ask for. You can make omelets. You got fruit, chocolate covered banana. This place is lovely. You guys okay? All right, so it’s later in the day and we quickly got dressed and we are going to work out. We are going to the gym. We’re eating so much, so we’re gonna burn some calories a little bit. Yeah. There you go. Alrighty, epic training montage activated. Nice. You’re getting your groove on. Woo. Oh, man, that was a lot. I’m sweating bullets and totally out of breath. But you know it’s a good workout when you feel this way. Let’s sweat some more in the sauna. This spa is so nice. So they have a steam bath and two saunas here at the spa. And what should we do first? Wyatt’s favorite thing is saunas. He always takes advantage of one if there is one in the facility. And there are two, he’s gonna be in here every day. It actually feels so good being in the cold, though. It’s like a relief, you know what I mean? All right, go, go, go. Steam room. Oh, it’s good. It’s always hard to breathe in these steam rooms. They can barely see you. You’re like a ghost. Okay, go for it. Final step. Is there water in there? Yeah, it’s cold. Should I just do it? Sauna. Get in the sauna. Get in the sauna. So relaxing. I’m gonna be there every single day this week. Honestly, I do feel so, like, rejuvenated mentally and physically. Yeah. Double whammy. Gym time over. And now it’s time to get outside. Woo. All right, let’s go. They have so many options on the all includes the menu. You can literally get a spiked shake at the pool bar. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Aperol spritz. Gorgeous pool. It’s in the shape of a flower. Who knew that this was in Bulgaria? Like, I feel like we’re in the Caribbean or Mexican coast, but we’re just on the east coast of Bulgaria on the Black Sea. If you’re looking for a different kind of vacation, you can come here. Yes. Beautiful Bulgarian beach right on the Black Sea. Only took about three minutes to walk here from the hotel. Huge beach as far as the eye can see. This whole cove. There’s, like, hotels and condos. Reyka is chilling on the towel. I’m gonna get in the water. Yeah, the water’s a little chilly. Very few people. I really had a great time at the beach. The sand is really fine, and the ocean’s gorgeous, and you can just lounge. Sorry, the Black Sea. I keep making that mistake. You’re asking for the YouTube trolls by saying that’s an ocean. True. And right at the entrance/exit of the beach, there’s basically this line of souvenir tents. Super clever idea. Hey Reyka, I have a question for you. What? Water you waiting for? Water you waiting for? Let’s go check out a beach mall in Bulgaria. Malls always smell so good. They do. Is that my color? Colors. This girl’s about to go down in ping pong. This girl needs some serious work with her ping pong. All right. We were bad vloggers and didn’t record transitions or getting food because we were so hungry. But we’re at dinner now. Chef’s buffet has a ton of different selections. Bulgarian food, regular food, it’s great. This is the classic Bulgarian banitsa. It’s like flaked bread mixed with sirene, which is like the Bulgarian cheese similar to feta in Greece. It’s a national Bulgarian dish. So of course they have it. Yeah. Anyway, usually we have to work really hard. At this resort, you don’t want for anything. Anything you want is, like, right nearby. How do you pop champagne? The champagne should be a very chilled bottle is less likely to shatter and makes the process smoother. So I take all this stuff off right, like this. Is that gonna pop it? It’s not gonna pop it. I’ve done it before. It’s not gonna pop it. It is gonna pop it. I’m glad I pointed it that way. I guess we’ll see you guys tomorrow. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. So we’re at the lobby, and they literally have a robot waiter where you can pick up a welcome drink. What? We, like, just saw this today, so this is such a fun addition. It’s good. Well, everybody, this experience at Barcelo Royal Beach Resort has been nothing but fantastic. Wyatt’s currently at the gym, and I decided to get a little jump start on some work. But also, I really wanted to hang by the pool, so why not do both? So the sun is going down, and we’re getting a little taste of the Barcelo Royal beach nightlife. We lost. We didn’t even make it to the final round. I thought we would have at least made it to the final round. We were so cocky too, but okay, foosball, one round. So we’re on a little late night supermarket run. It’s fun that Sunny Beach has these, like, strips that are so, I don’t know, just like a resort town vibe. Yeah, it’s super easy and close to the resort so. Yeah, here’s the little store. Got to get some soda water. This is what most of the world refers to as Greek yogurt, but it actually has stronger ties to Bulgaria. And the bacteria that makes Greek yogurt is actually called Lactobacillus bulgaricus, named after Bulgaria. So we’re going to try some Bulgarian yogurt. Man, Greece gets all the credit for stuff. Let’s give some credit to Bulgaria, guys. This is delicious. Good morning. Also, I don’t know if you guys saw it, but check out my new background wallpaper. And we have kind of a fun way to start this morning. Good morning. On our final day here at the resort, we are in for a treat. We are actually checking out the spa treatments today. Starting with the hammam. We’re going to do some video, get the vibes. And then get a massage. And then get a massage. This is a hammam or a Turkish bath. We are not going to have one. We actually had one in Istanbul and it was amazing. You, like, lie on these heated granite slabs and get scrubbed with soap. But we are going for the massage today. How was it. It was great. It was wonderful. Very relaxing. This was such a treat. Yeah, it was. And they have rose petals on the ground. Oh, the vibe is set. Yeah, it is. For sure. Wow. I feel so zen. 10 out of 10, Dune’s Spa, 10 out of 10. Yeah. Truly can’t think of a better way to start the day. Alrighty. Now we are leaving the hotel to take this taxi an hour and a half to a teeny town in the south of Bulgaria to see a festival that I’ve wanted to go to for years. It’s going to be very fun. Ready to go to a fire dance festival. So the town we’re visiting is called Balgari, which is in the very south of Bulgaria and it’s kind of hard to get to. So we’re on these little mountain roads. This driver is a master. He’s backing up a dirt road to get us a good parking. Okay, thank you. Thank you. Blagodarya Yeah, we’ll see each other in a few hours. We just made it to Balgari where the Walking on Coals’s festival is and we are super excited. Yeah, it’s called Nestinarstvo and it should be a huge village festival. There’s like tour buses, but it’s also a big local event and we’ll tell you all about the history and show you when the people walk on coals. It’s going to be a super fun day. Let’s go. You can already see the like heat coming from the fire over there. Yeah, it’s right in the middle of that circle. After that long road trip, we are going to go to a restaurant, get a little bit of food. So before the festival starts to really ramp up, we decided to get some food because we are so hungry and they’re selling like a ton of very traditional Bulgarian food. Starting out with the classic Shopska salad. Then you have Kebapche which is like a sausage, it’s very common here. And then a lutanitsa bean stew. All this is only $13 USD. Crazy. That’s good. Sweet. Let’s try this meat. Oh my word, now that’s good. That’s pork. Mhm. Good pork sausage. Everything is so good. This is all going to be great fuel for the firewalking. We actually still don’t know ifwe’re going to be allowed to because usually it’s only like the local dancers but sometimes they let tourists come in. Let’s try some Shopska. Very similar to a Greek salad. It’s really good. This town normally has 68 people and just today every year like thousands flood this town. So we’ve seen people from all across Europe, tons of Bulgarians here. Just a super cool thing to be able to be here for. That was absolutely delicious. We were like really hungry. Yeah, we polished that off really quickly. Yeah. And it looks like there’s dancing happening over there so we got to go check it out. Blagodarya. The dance that was just happening was the Bulgarian Oro where you hold hands and dance to the beat in like a rope like fashion. And it showcases unity. Bulgarian village dance. Such a cool thing to be able to witness in person. This is awesome. Yeah, so traditional. Really cool. Still don’t really believe that people are going to walk on those, you know. Oh, I believe it. So if you’re curious what this festival is. Nestinarstvo is a centuries old ritual practiced in villages in southern Bulgaria, blending Orthodox Christian beliefs with even older pagan traditions. Every summer, villagers gather to honor Saints Constantine and Helena with music, dancing, and a fiery finale. At the heart of it all And at the end of the night is the fire walking, a sacred act meant to bring blessing, protection and renewal to the community. And it’s finally about to start. It’s starting. He’s just rolling out the coals now. The crowd’s so packed that Reyka and I got separated. She’s like two people in front of me. It’s a perfect circle and you can feel the heat from here. There’s so many people like it’s crazy. Quite the event. To explain a little bit about what’s going on here, the Nestanari or the fire dancers are chosen keepers of this ancient ritual, passing it down through generations. As the drums rise, they enter a trance carrying sacred icons said to guide their steps. Then with the music pumping before the silent crowd, they walk barefoot across the burning coals. This is not as a test of endurance, but as a blessing for the village. We can’t help but just be grateful to witness such a sacred event. They’re like dancing, almost stomping. It’s almost like they’re in a trance too. It’s kind of crazy. After the Nastinari had finished their dance, they took down the ropes to allow anyone to try to walk across the coals. and we’d come this far, I had to give it a shot. I really want to try walking on them. Reyka does too. No, she doesn’t. I’m pretty nervous. That’s hot. It’s actually not that bad. It didn’t hurt like at all. That’s hot. A little hot, but I think I’ll be fine. Well, my feet kind of hurt but we are gonna go back to Burgas and go to sleep. We did it. Bucket list. Pretty dang cool. Make sure to subscribe and we’ll see you next time. See you guys. Thank you for watching. Bye. Bye.

35:53, bro….I wish you so much luck becaus I can already sense the greeks getting triggered, us bulgarians too i guess cause Greek yogurt is dufferent from bulgarian yogurt (have tried both). Bulgarian yogurt is thucker and creemier and is made without straining. While greek yogurt is strained. Also, bulgarian yogurt is the one that has the bacteria. Though maybe some greek yogurts could have it too. Anyway wish you luck with the very proud and triggered internet people! The video was well made and greatly apriciated so don't pay them any mind. Yes you didint het everything right but your heart is in the right place as they say haha
Aware with the emphasis, please š bAnitsa, not banItsa ffs.

Fun fact! At the place of St. Sophia Church was issued the Edict of Serdica(old name of Sofia) in 311 by Roman emperor Galerius, which officially ended the persecution of Christianity in the Eastern Roman Empire, and thats the place he was buried as well.
if u live like a native Bulgarian with 600-700 euro per month u will be even more surprised.. "how those ppl are surviving?" š š
Been a fan of yours since your trip to Romania, glad to see you're having a great time in our southern neighbor. Also howdy neighbors! RO ā„BG
In the center of Sofia it is a little more expensive than in other neighborhoods. Small towns it is much cheaper than Sofia.

Every single travel vlogger in Bulgaria is drinking boza with sweeteners, like aspartame, which is awful.

24:00 "Who knew they had like literal beach resorts? It's crazy!" 𤦠You came to a country right on the shore of Black Sea! What did you expect to have here?? Caves? Wooden or straw houses? Did you expect us to ride donkeys instead of driving cars? I really need to hear what else you expected to find in the area next to the sea.
Of course to visit the synagogue you must pay
How hard is it to stress the first syllable, the SO part of the name of the capital Sofia?
Patatnik is not this. It's made from fresh planed potatoes with herbs as a filling inside filo. You should try it in Rhodopi, not in Sofia.
