After brunch, I did a little data entry work, then went shopping with my husband at MUJI and KALDI. We got our usual “sponge cake” and “plum paste” as well as “pu-erh tea” and “chamomile tea.” Sean looked a little dissatisfied. \ Do you have salmon? / We enjoyed some “home yakiniku” at night… That was our home on a certain holiday. ☺︎ Another day . What I’m missing this summer is “ratatouille”! About three years ago in the summer, I made and ate authentic ratatouille. I had a foodie idea: “I wonder if deep-frying these eggplants and zucchini would be delicious?” That thought occurred to me, but I haven’t made it yet. Slowly simmered ratatouille has a gentle flavor and is delicious, right? ☺︎ Today, I’m going to make a ratatouille with a little more punch and serve it with pasta. I’ve added plenty of basil…♪ The color is irresistible… While it’s chilling in the fridge, I’m going to go grocery shopping…☺︎ But, it’s so hot… It looks like it’s going to melt 🫠 And here it is, the ice-cold ratatouille I’ve been waiting for! ☺︎ It’s quite a departure from the original “ratatouille” concept… (apologies) I’ve also added cream cheese…♪ I made peach tea with the leftover peach syrup. Brunch, Ratatouille-Style Pasta, Iced Peach Tea. I know people from France might scold me if they saw this… (apologies) Yes! : It was a great idea♪ Deep fried eggplant and zucchini… they go really well together and are delicious☺︎As with anything, It’s fun to try and come up with your own version of it…♪ I love to come up with new ideas too♪ That is… / I spare no effort in moving the rice to the right side to make it easier to eat♪ / another day#2 If you’re thinking, “Hasn’t there been more pasta in this vlog lately?”…! Yes, you’re right… I think so too. So! Today, which tends to be a bit unbalanced in terms of nutrition, I’m going to make “Khao Man Gai”! (In the style of Sergeant Keroro) I don’t like “rice”, so I tend to unconsciously avoid “rice dishes”. The other day, I suddenly thought, “I want to eat a hearty chicken meal…” and I came up with Khao Man Gai, which is “rice + meat” but seems light(?) to eat. …Now, I’ll leave the rest to the rice cooker♪ In the meantime, why don’t I clean your toilet?☺︎ / Don’t forget to wash the scoop, meow. Yes, of course☺︎ I’ll also have some Chinese-style pickled cucumber, which serves as my stomach medicine…♪ Honey lemon lemonade soda is also becoming a regular drink☺︎ Brunch, Khao Man Gai, Chinese-style pickled cucumber, Honey lemon lemonade soda. I couldn’t find “Jasmine rice” at my local supermarket… (tears). I should have bought it at Muji… The aroma of that rice cooking is indescribably delicious… It reminds me of Phuket, Thailand, when I visited with my husband… Of course, on that trip, I ate… Tom Yum Kung noodles and Pad Thai, and nothing else (lol). I’m a noodle-loving alien (lol). Of course, we had Khao Man Gai too. ☺︎ Of course, it can’t compare to the authentic taste , but it was delicious, even though it was my first time making Khao Man Gai in about a year. ☺︎ My husband’s share is for dinner. ✌︎ My rental formal kimono arrived. It’s for my cousin’s wedding, which is coming up in a few days. It’s been a long time since I wore a shiromuku (white wedding kimono) at my own wedding. I’m excited about the soy milk ice cream for dessert and my first formal kimono. And more than anything, I never thought the day would come when I’d be attending my cousin’s wedding. I’m looking forward to it as if it were my own… No, I’m even more excited than I am. I’ll be staying home, right? I know that. / another day #3 These pearl earrings my grandmother gave me when she passed away… I’m wearing them to the ceremony today so that we can attend together . 彼女が生まれた翌日、まだ小学生だった私は病院で初めて抱っこをしたときのあの重さは今でも覚えています。
それがいつしかこうして新たな門出に立ち会えたことは本当に喜ばしく、感慨深いものでした…。
“おめでとう”を言われることは勿論嬉しいことですが、”おめでとう”を言う側はもっともっと嬉しく、喜ばしいことだなと改めて実感したのでした。
