With new episodes of DEXTER: RESURRECTION dropping on Hulu, Andrew & John continue their binge giving their DEXTER Season 1, Episodes 9–12 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Spoiler Review!!
Andrew Gordon & John Humphrey dive into the shocking final stretch of Dexter Season 1 with Episodes 9 through 12, as the Ice Truck Killer mystery reaches its chilling climax and Dexter Morgan faces revelations that threaten to unravel everything he thought he knew.
In these gripping episodes—“Father Knows Best,” “Seeing Red,” “Truth Be Told,” and “Born Free”—Dexter (Michael C. Hall, Six Feet Under, Safe) uncovers disturbing details about his past while navigating a growing web of secrets. Jennifer Carpenter (Quarantine, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) stars as his adoptive sister, Debra Morgan, whose romance with Rudy (Christian Camargo, The Hurt Locker, The Twilight Saga) takes a dark turn when his true identity is revealed. David Zayas (Gotham, Blue Bloods) returns as Sergeant Angel Batista, while James Remar (The Warriors, Black Lightning) appears in haunting flashbacks as Dexter’s adoptive father Harry. Julie Benz (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) continues her role as Dexter’s girlfriend Rita, whose own personal battles add emotional weight to the season’s close.
Famous scenes include the discovery of Dexter’s biological family, the gruesome motel room bloodbath in “Seeing Red,” Debra’s terrifying abduction, and the iconic moment in the finale when Dexter must choose between loyalty, family, and survival. These episodes set the tone for the series’ dark exploration of morality and identity, cementing Dexter as one of TV’s most unforgettable antiheroes.

  1. Oh and this is my fav reaction going right now. Hearing your thoughts bout future – I CANNOT WAIT to seee your reactions omg

  2. I used to rank Dexter a little lower than the others, but on watching it again, it's right up there. By the others, I mean HBO shows, and the best of all time. They're all from HBO!
Six Feet Under, Deadwood, The Sopranos, The Wire. What am I forgetting?
People will be like, what about Breaking Bad? Breaking Bad is like a watered down version of an HBO program. It could get cheesy, unbelievable, and some of the characters became annoying. Rita became annoying to me in Dexter because of her naive wholesomeness and unaccountability, but that was clearly done on purpose.
Breaking Bad was also censored, no swearing. Unrealistic, family oriented. Ask Al.

  3. I never even realized that Rudy used the same ring!! Every time I watch this show there is something new. Glad y'all are enjoying!!!

  4. Brian/Rudy claimed to be the only one to accept Dexter, but he could only accept one part of Dexter. They could have been reunited and had a really wonderful relationship as serial killer brothers, but Dexter ultimately chose the part of himself that isn't "the dark passenger" by choosing his reality as Deb's brother.

  5. “john ‘bang’ humphrey” …….good sir, don’t tempt me. mr. gordon already has his thighs out, and that’s more than enough, thanks.

“surprise mother fu*ker” will always be iconic. my roommate and i cackled all night after watching this ep when it aired. i forgot how incredible this first season is. this show only gets better with each season. pls pls pls keep watching the show after this season

    🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿

  6. Seasons 1-4 are so damn peak. Honestly tho I would’ve reordered the big bads. S3 main and minor antagonists in S1. S2 stays the same. S4 big bad moved to S3 but he gets away and Brian shows up to take him down in S4 after the reveal of them being brothers. And then dex doesn’t kill him because the big huge surprise at the end of S4 finale stays the same. That could really leave S5-8 to be really cool and different and avoid some of the low points in those last 3 seasons. (Even tho I enjoy S5)

  7. Thank you Gents, that was really enjoyable…and there is so much more to come.Looking forwards to it already 🙂

  8. us knowing Rudy is the Ice Truck Killer made this final stretch even more intense 🙂 they still left the biggest reveals for the end, him actually being Brian, Dexter's brother, thats perfect 🙂 also Dexter now thinks a bit differently about Harry 😛 getting more revelations regarding Dexter's past was cool 🙂 the legendary line is here, SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER! xD we got to see Dexter proper emotional for the first time after he killed his brother

  9. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were married for years while playing brother and sister on Dexter. They now have their separate families, but they're still friends. =)

  10. Deb is such a tragic character. I feel so bad for her. She just wanted her dad and brother to give her blove and attention, she wanted to do great at her job. And all she gets is her boss riding her, her brother can't connect with her, and now a seriel killer boyfriend. Poor Deb

  11. Ths is the best season one of any show I've seen. It's written and acted out so masterfully! You go through the episodes thinking you're in the "know" because you saw the "plot twist" early and knew it was Rudy, but in the end the plot twist is them being brothers. It's amazing and gives me goosebumps to see the finale every time.

  12. Man if only Harry had told him about his original family… The way his mom died was obviously horrible but refusing to tell him about his original life is just cruel

  13. The first few season are really good, then it starts to go in strange, cringe place. I think I haven't even finished it. It was that bad.

  14. keith gordon from Christine andrew!! please tell me he hasn't seen it & we can expect a spooky season react! based off of a king story & directed by carpenter it's a classic.

  15. That woman who was Batista’s nurse was also a nurse in the notebook. So I’m convinced The Notebook and Dexter share the same universe.

Also, I feel like both of you knew Rudy was Dexter’s brother awhile ago based on your reactions.
