The Southern Banh Mi You Didn’t Expect in Hanoi
When I get a hankering for Southern style Banh Mi, I almost always end up here. They serve a delicious crispy pork belly sandwich that I can’t seem to go without. They also make a really solid cold cut sandwich that is packed with Vietnamese deli meats like ham, sliced sausage and fresh pate.
Their bread is southern style as well, which is a whole different experience than northern style. But best of all, they make an incredible and spicy fermented hot sauce which is a reminder that you’re still in the north. It’s a combination that you don’t often get to appreciate in the south.
The young owner also runs a full-on restaurant that serves southern, central and northern classics such as Hu Tieu, Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu. It’s worth a visit if you’re into your food, but unable to get to the south.
