Tacos vs. Burrito I The Showdown
In this week’s episode, Brits Venetia Falconer and “Topless Baker” are taking on Mexican food.
Homemade Tacos
INGREDIENTS:
6 Flour Tortillas
250g Beef Mince
1/2 White Onion
1 Clove of Garlic
75g Sweetcorn
100g Cheddar Cheese
1/2 Can of Black Beans
1/2 Can of Chopped Tomatoes
1 Tbsp Tomato Paste
100ml Beef Stock
1 Tbsp Fajita Seasoning:
(1 Tbsp. Chili Powder, 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder 1/4 tsp.
Onion Powder, 1/4 tsp. Crushed Red Pepper Flakes,
1/4 tsp. Dried Oregano, 1/2 tsp. Paprika, 1 1/2 tsp.
Ground Cumin, 1 tsp. Sea Salt)
To serve:
Shredded Lettuce
Sour Cream
STEPS:
1.) Fry the onion & garlic until soft, then add the beef mince. Fry until completely browned and then add the seasoning and stir.
2.) Pour in the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste & stock, and reduce on a high heat for 5-10 mins.
3.) Meanwhile, microwave the tortillas for 30s to steam them. Lightly coat them in vegetable oil and drape the tortillas over two bars of your oven rack and bake at 190C degrees until crispy, about 7-10 mins.
4.) Take your hardened taco shell, fill the bottom layer with the beef mixture, top with a sprinkling of sweet corn, black beans, shredded lettuce, salsa, sour cream and shredded cheese.
Refried Bean Burrito With Cashew Sour Cream
INGREDIENTS:
400g can of pinto or kidney beans (rinsed and drained)
1tbsp olive oil
1 onion finely chopped
2 garlic cloves
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp of tamari
1 lime juice
1 ripe aovcado
Some chopped romaine lettuce
Tortilla wrap
Fresh cherry tomatoes
For the cashew cream:
125g raw cashew nuts, soaked in water for a minimum of 2 hours
240ml unsweetened soya milk or water
Juice of one small lemon
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
Pinch of salt
STEPS:
1.) Heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the onion and garlic for 2 mins. Add the cumin and cook for 1 min more. Tip in the beans, paprika, tamari and a splash of water. Using a potato masher, break the beans down as they warm through to make a rough purée. Squeeze over the lime juice.
2.) Cashew sour cream: simply blitz all the sour cream ingredients in a grinder until smooth and set aside.
3.) Heat both sides of the burrito wrap in a large frying pan until each side has browned a little. Add the beans, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce to the wrap then pour over some salsa and drizzle over the cashew sour cream.

Shirtless Baker won. 🙂
This is so good and so bad
I'll have both 😍
Why can’t it be Nude Baker 😍😍
Huummm😍
Why isnt there a shirtless chefet
Why is it that people tend to summarize all Latino food as specifically Mexican food? It's like calling a Mexican a Spanish person or a Brazilian a Portuguese person.
I'm SHOOK no. Just no. Where is the cilantro? Ground cumin? The "slasa" she made was not even fuckin salsa. Nope. And the fact that the cringy shirtless guy keeps calling his tacos authentic is hurting me. Athunetic tacos aren't made with ground beef or iceburg lettuce he just made a homemade version of a taco Bell taco. I'm mad about it.
Why does he keep saying traditional / authentic Mexican neither are especially his. Irritated about that. Let's start w the type of tortillas, ground beef nope, seasoning, lettuce, ….. the list goes on. I would love to try hers though she never said it was traditional/authentic.
Both suck
Nope, not authentic Mexican tacos …😒
That's TexMex! Not at all traditional Mexican but still delicious. The use of ground beef, yellow cheeses, flour tortillas, lettuce and spice blends heavy on cumin are all hallmarks of TexMex cuisine.
this shows dumb
AM mexican and this is fucking taco Bell Crap they need to make suadero tacos carne asada tacos de tripas agujas al pastor al vapor not this psudo mexican tacos
Who did the script for this show!!!???
i stopped watching the moment the guy said "arriba" bye #no
this is offensive
This series is fun to watch, all the banter is funny.
The people complaining about this show are the ones no one invites to parties cuz they're the "well actually…" people.
the furthest from anything Mexican, is really disappointing that the entire world think this is a taco, my Mexican heart is broken 💔 please don’t do that again and make a better research of the food before cooking and talking about it #tacoshelliscrap
Wow this show is unbearably horrible….. has to be the worst cooking show smh 💩💩💩
She reminds me of Natalie Portman!
Why is the taste master an evil sith lord
Topless baker is acting like gay…. (Just observing)…..(im not insulting)
bonne ap
I'm sorry Tastemade, I love your channel and I love Matt, but this series is terrible
Someone needs to take them to a taco truck.
Venetia Falconer, yuck. That didn't even sound good.
Lost me when 'fajita seasoning' came from his mouth
Just curious, is topples baker gay ?
if you turn on CC at 0:05 she says "and me Venetia pool cleaner" loool
I really, genuinely wanted to like this series because I love Tastemade, but this has to be one of the weakest (and frankly, annoying) series they have so far. Maybe tone down the "drama" next time.
I like it – they're funny and cute and they're cooking. Authentic or not, it's better than buying boxed garbage and not caring about what's inside. that's my 2 cents, they're cooking and they care, two fundamental ingredients in any cooking show.
I'm still waiting on the topless baker to go full nude so that he can distract us from his horrible cooking. English people and cooking don't really go together. Hell even Jamie Oliver had to get out of England to learn how to cook.
They both were basically tacos coming groom a Latina someone who would know. Not very authentic either
I always find it funny when English people make food from Mexico or South America. Dunno why.
