Tacos (Carne Asada and Ground Beef)

In this video, I made two kinds of tacos – Carne Asada Tacos and Ground Beef Tacos.

CARNE ASADA TACOS

Ingredients:
3 corn tortillas
1 lb steak (I used ribeye since it’s what’s available.)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup olive oil
5-7 limes, cut into wedges
1 cup diced white onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup chopped cilantro
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:
1. Combine soy sauce, olive oil, lime juice (squeezed from 1-3 limes), garlic, half of the cilantro, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
2. Put the steak in a container and pour the marinade. Cover and let chill overnight.
3. In a pan, heat the tortillas (1 minute per side) to keep them from breaking. Set aside.
4. Using medium high heat, cook the steak depending upon preferred doneness (5 to 7 minutes per side).
5. Let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before slicing it against the grain.
6. Assemble the meat, onion, and cilantro on the tortillas. Serve the tacos with the remaining lime wedges.

GROUND BEEF TACOS

Ingredients:
3 flour tortillas
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tbsps olive oil
1 can tomato sauce
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 avocado, sliced
1 shallot, diced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
A handful of shredded lettuce leaves
A handful of chopped cilantro
A handful of sliced cherry tomatoes
3 tbsps sour cream
3 limes, cut into wedges

Instructions:
1. In a pan, brown the ground beef.
2. Add tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for a while before turning off the heat. Set aside.
3. Heat the tortillas (1 minute per side).
4. Assemble the ground beef mixture, onion, avocado, lettuce, cilantro, cherry tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and sour cream on the tortillas.
5. Serve the tacos with lime wedges.
