9 Easy Sandwiches to Save You Time and Money
I love easy sandwiches! They take hardly any time to make, cut down on dirty dishes, and they’re much cheaper than fast food. Most of the ingredients are also pre-sliced so they’re very approachable for people who either don’t know how to use a knife or who have difficulty using a knife.
*I know I promised the Easy Gentle Cooking videos would be 5 minutes or less, but this one wound up being a little over 6 minutes. I considered splitting it into 2 videos, one omnivore and the other vegetarian, but I decided to do one video instead.

1. Salami with Provolone:
1 hoagie roll (or use a low sugar or sugar-free sliced white bread. I love sour dough)
Mustard and mayo (or butter or salad dressing. Use what you like!)
1-2 slices provolone (or any other mild cheese you like)
6-12 slices salami
Lettuce
Optional produce: sliced tomatoes, pickles, banana peppers, onion, olives, artichoke hearts
2. Turkey Swiss Croissantwich
1 croissant (or use a low sugar or sugar-free sliced bread)
Mustard and mayo (or butter or salad dressing. Use what you like!)
2 slices swiss cheese
3-4 slices deli turkey breast
Lettuce
Sliced tomato (or eat cherry tomatoes on the side if you don’t want to slice a tomato)
Pickles
3. Tuna Salad Sandwich
2 pieces sliced bread of your choice, toasted
1-2 pieces lettuce
The salad:
2 cans tuna (drained–or you can fish it out with a fork if you don’t own a strainer. Feed the juice to your cat!)
1-2 ribs of celery (leaves and whites removed) diced
A small handful black olives, minced (optional)
A spoonful of minced red onion (optional)
A spoonful of minced pickle or relish (optional)
A splash of lemon juice (optional)
A sprinkle of salt and pepper
2 big spoonfuls of mayonnaise
4. Avocado-Cucumber (vegetarian)
2 pieces sliced whole wheat bread (or whatever you like. I also like sour dough)
1 mashed avocado or 1/2 cup store-bought guacamole
About 1/6 of a cucumber, sliced
2 slices cheddar cheese (or any cheese you like, or leave it out if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant)
Artichoke hearts (optional)
Lettuce or alfalfa sprouts (optional)
5. Cucumber-Cheese (vegetarian)
2 pieces sour dough bread (or whatever you like)
Mayonnaise (or butter or some creamy salad dressing of your choice)
About 1/3 of a cucumber, sliced
2 slices cheese (any cheese you like)
Black pepper (optional)
Lettuce or alfalfa sprouts (optional)
6. Grilled Cheese (vegetarian)
(everyone’s method varies. I don’t claim that my way is *best*. It’s just what I like best.)
2 pieces sour dough bread
2 slices cheddar cheese
1-1.5 TBS butter (I also sometimes use rendered bacon fat)
7. Hot dogs (or any pre-cooked sausage)
Buns (or I’ve sometimes used a single piece of toasted bread)
Hot dogs, hotlinks, smoked sausage (anything will do, as long as it’s pre-cooked)
Condiments: mayo, mustard, hot sauce, ketchup, pickle relish, chutney, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, pickle, celery salt, cheese, chili, fresh salsa
In the video, I sauteed the sausages in a pan on medium heat for a couple minutes each side.
You can also microwave them on a plate on high for one minute.
Or you can boil them in water for a couple minutes to heat up.
8. Peanut Butter and Jelly
2 slices bread (this is a sweet sandwich, so store-bought North American sliced bread is actually ideal. My favorites by Oroweat are potato, buttermilk, or oatnut.)
Peanut butter (I prefer smooth. Fight me.)
Jelly (My favorites are blackberry, grape, or strawberry.)
Toast your bread (optional). Spread a thin layer of peanut butter on one slice, a thin layer of jelly on the other slice. Alternatively, if you’re less hungry, use just one slice of bread and spread one half with peanut butter, the other half with jelly and fold it on itself.
9. Peanut Butter and Banana
Believe it or not, I actually hadn’t had this sandwich ever until I made this video. I usually eat it as an open-faced sandwich instead: a piece of toast spread with peanut butter and topped with banana slices. I prefer it as toast and not as a sandwich, but this video’s theme was sandwiches, so I kept it that way.

A big thank you to all my Patrons, old and new! I know I promised the videos in this Easy Gentle Cooking series would be 5 minutes or less, but this one wound up being a bit longer. I considered breaking it into two parts, but I figured a little over 6 minutes wasn't too far off.
As I mentioned at the end of the video, I'll be doing some grocery budgeting videos in April. This time, I'll be focusing on using what I already have (mostly pantry staples) to spend as little money at the grocery store as possible to make satisfying meals for myself and my husband. So it won't be the typical "I went to the grocery store with a 20 dollar bill and eat only what I bought for a week!" kinds of videos, but a realistic and honest walkthrough of what I do to save money on food when I need to (and sadly, I think we all need to nowadays, with the price of food continuing to creep up.) Most of the food I eat in April will also be rather easy recipes and batch-cooking. 🥰
Yummy….. recipes…..
Perfect timing as I'm making out my grocery list right now.
Looks so good! 🙂
Lovely ideas il be trying these soon.
I'm so glad you posted this Sarah. I plan to watch your videos in a binge session tonight, weather permitting. We are in the SE and severe weather is crossing into our area as I type. Play list(s) will help you to have more views of your channel. Love the sandwich ideas. Hang in there!!! 🙂
I need to do some more food prep since I’m working a lot more. So this is really helpful for lunch and dinner ideas 🙂
great video, and wonderful reminder of how versatile sandwiches are!
Another great video. Personally, I could live on PB&J. Spice it up by adding some chips to the middle or grilling it like grilled cheese.
These look so good!
🔥🔥🔥
How about some "simple sides that aren't just chips" content to go with all those sammies? 😄 (I'm trying to be healthy…ugh…)
Two days ago, I was literally searching on here for simple, cold sandwich ideas and had a hard time finding things that didn't require cooking. Then, this popped up on my feed today 🙂 Would love to see more like this
Love the vegetables as sides. These look fantastic! I think my favorite food is a turkey sandwich…the simplicity can't be beat. So good.
My favorite add-ins that made me love tuna salad sandwiches: dried black currants, celery, green onion, dijon mustard and mayo.
You really know how to make a sandwich! These look so yummy!!! Thank you for sharing these ideas. 😊
Agree with hubby about punt buttervon toast… It melts and is yummy.
